- Purple Heart recipients and their spouses, children, stepchildren, adopted children, grandchildren or step-grandchildren who are accepted by or enrolled as full-time students (12 credit hours) at an accredited U.S. college, university or vocational school when the award is made. Graduate students are ineligible.
