Pre-college division: First $500, Second $400, Third $300; honorable mentions $50 each

2027 deadline not yet posted; the 2026 deadline was February 28, 2026 (11:59 PM CT).

How to apply

Write one sijo (Korean poetic form) in English on any topic and submit it through the Sejong Cultural Society website without your name on the entry.

Who can apply

Residents of the United States and Canada age 18 and younger (pre-college division), regardless of ethnic background.

Good to know

The essay category was discontinued starting in 2026; only the sijo category continues. AI use must be disclosed.
