- Submit original artwork to a local participating VFW Auxiliary; state first-place winners advance to national judging.

- A finalist round or selection weekend
- Who can apply
- Students in grades 9 to 12 at U.S. public, private, parochial or home schools (or overseas dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel) who are U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents or have applied for permanent residence. Not open to foreign exchange students, students age 20 or older, or prior national winners.
- Good to know
- Digital art, photography, 3-D printed work, weapons and jewelry are not accepted.
